Dearly Beloved,Today I invite you to share with me in thanksgiving, to come out from under the shadows for just a moment and remember that, because of Jesus, heaven and earth are not so far apart for us.
Let Us Give Thanks…
…for the unshakable foundation of God’s grace, promised in the water and the Word,
…for God’s mercy that leads us out of death into life,
…for God’s forgiveness in Jesus that follows and frees us,
…for God’s willingness to send Him and spend Him for our sake.
Let Us Give Thanks…
…for blessed memories and authentic hope,
…for every good that has sheltered and nourished us,
…for faith’s joy and delight,
…for the Holy Spirit who edits our patchwork prayers with the grammar of grace…
Let Us Give Thanks…
…for the gift of today, just today…
…for life’s inconsistencies, those clusters of shadows which keep us by our Shepherd’s side,
…for the Lord’s Supper, where crippled by fakery and self-love, we receive the taste of mercy,
…for the righteousness of Jesus, on loan to us from eternity,
…for His peace and light in the fading dusk of dulling years,
…and for the promise of a wild ending, the eternal Easter!
“May the peace of God that passes all understanding keep your hearts and minds in
Christ Jesus our Lord.”
